چکیده

This paper presents a supervisorymulti-agent control policy over an acoustic communication network subject to imperfections (packet dropout and transmission delay) for localisation of an underwater flow source (e.g., source of chemical pollution, fresh water, etc.) with an unknown location at the bottom of the ocean. A two-loop control policy combined with a coding strategy for reliable communication is presented to perform the above task. A simulator is developed and used to evaluate the trade-offs between quality of communication, transmission delay and control for a fleet of autonomous underwater vehicles supervised over a noisy acoustic communication network by an autonomous surface vessel. It is illustrated that without compensation of the effects of severe random packet dropout, localisation of an unknown underwater flow source is not possible for the condition simulated just by implementing a two-loop control policy. But a two-loop control policy combined with a strategy for reliable communication locates the unknown location of flow source.

Integrating organizational control into multi-agent learning

Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning (MARL) algorithms suffer from slow convergence and even divergence, especially in largescale systems. In this work, we develop an organization-based control framework to speed up the convergence of MARL algorithms in a network of agents. Our framework defines a multi-level organizational structure for automated supervision and a communication protocol for exch...

A Supervisory Control Approach to Dynamic Cyber-Security

An analytical approach for a dynamic cyber-security problem that captures progressive attacks to a computer network is presented. We formulate the dynamic security problem from the defender’s point of view as a supervisory control problem with imperfect information, modeling the computer network’s operation by a discrete event system. We consider a min-max performance criterion and use dynamic ...

Supervisory Recurrent Fuzzy Neural Network Guidance Law Design for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle

A guidance law, based on supervisory recurrent fuzzy neural network control (SRFNNC), is proposed for the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) guidance systems. This SRFNNC system is comprised of a recurrent fuzzy neural network (RFNN) controller and a supervisory controller. The RFNN controller is used to mimic an ideal controller and the supervisory controller is designed to compensate for the...

Design of Divergence-free Protocol Converters Using Supervisory Control Techniques

In this paper, we use supervisory control techniques to design a protocol converter, which avoids divergence in a communication system. A typical application is to design gateways that interface heterogeneous computer networks while minimizing the communication time with the involved parties. As an example, we design a divergence-free converter that interfaces an alternating bit sender and a no...

Effect of Underwater Ambient Noise on Quadraphase Phase-shift Keying Acoustic Sensor Network Links in Extremely Low Frequency Band

This study evaluates the impact of underwater ambient noise using seven real noise samples; Dolphin, Rain, Ferry, Sonar, Bubbles, Lightning, and Outboard Motor in three frequency ranges in extremely low frequency (ELF) band. The ELF band is the most significant bandwidth for underwater long-range communication. ELF band which is extended from 3 to 3000 Hz clearly, faces bandwidth limitation. Me...
